Italian luxury goods manufacturer Montegrappa was founded in 1912 with the slogan, “Maker of gold nibs and fountain pens.” Products today are still made in the original factory on the river Brenta (northeast Italy). During World War I, the brand’s pens were well regarded, with legendary writers Ernest Hemingway and John Dos Passos among passionate users – both were volunteer ambulance drivers.

This fountain pen is engraved with Salvador Dali's signature on the top of the cap and an illustration from his internationally acclaimed autobiography The Secret Life of Dali, published in 1942. In tribute to the book and Dali's legend, Montegrappa created 270 limited edition pieces. The series comes in multiple colors to express the varied tones Dali used throughout his work.
